Though they had to watch recently as President Donald Trump pardoned Sheriff Joe Arpaio, they know that as long as they are there to oppose them he will one day have justice, and his victims will be healed.
The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is actually born out of an evil that Sheriff Joe Arpaio committed against Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin.
Lacey and Larkin had been reporting on several illegal activities that the Maricopa County Police Department was guilty of committing under Sheriff Arpaio. The first illegal activity was stacking the police force with officers who were racially biased against the Latino and Hispanic community.
The second illegal activity was money laundering through the Maricopa County Police Department. This money laundering was used to pay police officers bonuses for bringing in a certain number of illegal Hispanics.
Once the news about Sheriff Joe Arpaio broke out from the Phoenix News Times, which is owned by Village Voice Media, the old and vile Sheriff grew angry. He decided that he had to teach Lacey and Larkin a lesson.
Sheriff Arpaio rounded up a group of his loyal thugs and proceeded to get into unmarked black SUVs and in the cover of darkness break into the homes of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin using an illegal warrant as justification.
Once he was inside, he held the man hostage by demanding the either give him the evidence or he will detain them. Of course, Lacey and Larkin being brave men, they refused and were hauled off to jail.
The news got a hold of what was happening to the men, and they ran the story nationally. The pressure grew so immense that Sheriff Arpaio was forced to release them.
This will culminate in a lawsuit with the Maricopa County who ended up paying Lacey and Larkin $3.75 million.
This money was used to start the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund which continues to support Hispanic rights, the freedom of speech, and equality for all. If you are interested in knowing more about the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund, please visit them online.
