Once he was inside, he held the man hostage by demanding the either give him the evidence or he will detain them. Of course, Lacey and Larkin being brave men, they refused and were hauled off to jail.

The news got a hold of what was happening to the men, and they ran the story nationally. The pressure grew so immense that Sheriff Arpaio was forced to release them.
